PITTS S1-S • $65,000 • FOR SALE BY OWNER / BUILDER • Original builder has decided to sell his Pitts S1-S. This airplane was completed and first flown as a Pitts S1-C in 1972. In 1980, the owner/builder significantly upgraded the airplane by adding aluminum landing gear, electric fuel boost pump, new cowling, Dacron fabric, and symmetrical wings. Other improvements throughout its life include a Haigh tailwheel, Skytec starter, fuel injection and a sliding canopy. The engine (Lycoming IO-360) was overhauled in 1996 by Barrett Performance Engines. At this time chrome cylinders and high compression pistons 9:1 were installed.
